Majdi Ben Selma

Majdi Ben Selma has been a professor of strategy at ESG UQAM since 2016. His research focuses on organizational growth strategies, specifically diversification, innovation, and internationalization. His objective is to understand the mechanisms that enable organizations to grow and create value through a microfoundations and dynamic capabilities approach. His other research interests include board diversity and its role in strategic decision-making, as well as managerial levers for social innovation in organizations. 

Majdi holds a PhD in Strategic Management from the University of Bordeaux, France, and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at HEC Montréal. His research has been published in Management Decision, Euromed Journal of Business, Journal of Management and Governance, and Review of International Business and Strategy. 


Kamal Bouzinab

Kamal Bouzinab holds a PhD in strategy from a joint program between UQAM, McGill University, Concordia University, and HEC Montréal. He has been a full professor in the Department of Strategy, Social and Environmental Responsibility since 2009. 

Before becoming Director of the Executive MBA (EMBA) program, he was the Department Chair (2014-2020). His research focuses on corporate strategy, governance, and scenario-based strategic planning. He is particularly interested in board roles in strategy formation, the impact of dynamic capabilities on strategic innovation, and scenario planning as part of strategic intelligence. 

He is a co-founder, researcher, and executive committee member of GRISG and was awarded the 1st Prize for Innovative Corporate Governance Practices in the 21st Century by McKinsey & Company and the Institute of Corporate Directors (IAS) in 2006. 


Hela Chebbi

Hela Chebbi

Hela Chebbi is a professor of strategy, innovation, and international management at ESG-UQAM (Université du Québec à Montréal). She obtained her doctorate in management sciences from Université IAE-Lyon III. Before joining ESG-UQAM, she held several positions in France, including director of research and head of the Entrepreneurship Research Center, as well as director of the Management and Strategy Department. 

Hela Chebbi’s research focuses on growth strategies, particularly innovation, intrapreneurship, and international development strategies for SMEs, areas in which she has conducted extensive research. Her work has been published in numerous international academic journals such as Review of International Business and Strategy, M@n@gement, European Management Review, Revue Internationale PME, Journal of Business Research, Entreprendre & Innover, and Euromed Journal of Business. 


Amélie Cloutier

Amélie Cloutier

Amélie Cloutier has been a professor in the Department of Strategy, Social and Environmental Responsibility at ESG UQAM since June 2020. She is the Scientific Director of the Transat Tourism Chair. She holds an MBA in Management and a PhD in Administration from Université Laval. 

Her research focuses on innovation, collaboration, strategy, and leadership. Her work has been published in Journal of Ecotourism, Journal of Management Inquiry, International Journal of Innovation Management, Managing Sport and Leisure, Journal of Small Business and Entrepreneurship, and International Journal of Entrepreneurship and Innovation. 

Before academia, she worked as a competitive intelligence consultant for Desjardins General Insurance Group and TD Insurance. 


Robert H. Desmarteau

Robert H. Desmarteau

Dr. Robert H. Desmarteau is a professor of corporate strategy in the Department of Strategy, Social and Environmental Responsibility at ESG UQAM. From 2008 to 2014, he was Director of the Executive MBA program. 

He holds a PhD in Corporate Strategy (UQAM, 1997), a Master’s in Health Administration (Université de Montréal), and a Bachelor’s in Biochemistry-Physiology (Université de Sherbrooke). 

Dr. Desmarteau has advised over 50 private and public organizations on strategic planning. His research includes over 100 scholarly contributions and 50 public presentations on strategic best practices.


Ziad Guedri

Ziad Guedri

Ziad Guedri has been a professor of strategy at ESG UQAM since August 2019. Previously, he was an associate professor of strategy at EMLYON Business School (2004-2019). 

He holds a PhD in Strategic Management from the John Molson School of Business, Concordia University. His research focuses on corporate governance and growth strategy dynamics. His work has been published in top academic journals, including Journal of Management Studies, Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, International Journal of Human Resource Management, Corporate Governance: An International Review and Management International.  


Alexie Labouze

Alexie Labouze

Alexie Labouze has been a professor in the Department of Strategy, Social and Environmental Responsibility at ESG UQAM since August 2017. 

She specializes in luxury industry conglomerates, Fintech, and strategic innovation. She is also involved in organizing FinteQc, Canada’s first conference on Fintech and Insurtech. 

Her research focuses on dynamic capabilities and innovation in turbulent times, using a microfoundations approach. She holds a PhD in Administration (HEC Montréal), a Bachelor’s in Economics, and a Master’s in International Business (University of Florida, USA). 


Andrew Papadopoulos

Andrew Papadopoulos

Andrew Papadopoulos has been a professor of strategy at ESG UQAM since 2012. Previously, he was a visiting professor at Quinnipiac University (USA, 2010-2012). 

His research focuses on corporate governance structures, top management behavior, and M&A performance. He collaborates with colleagues from Louisiana State University,  MacEwan University (Edmonton), HEC Montréal and Athens University of Economics and Business.  

His work has been published in Journal of International Management, International Journal of Organizational Analysis, Euromed Journal of Business, and Journal of Business Strategy. 

He is a co-founder of GRISG and was its director from 2018 to 2024. He is currently the Director of the MSc in Management program. 


Vincent Sabourin

Vincent Sabourin

Vincent Sabourin is a full professor of business strategy at ESG UQAM, where he teaches in various MBA programs. 

His research focuses on strategic management, innovation, and disruptive technologies. His notable publications include: Veilles et pratiques stratégiques en gestion de l’innovation (2022), Strategic Management for the Hospitality and Tourism Industry (2022).  

He has led major projects for organizations like Hydro-Québec’s Research Institute (IREQ) and CRIAQ. His work has been presented in over 15 countries, and he has been recognized as a Distinguished Speaker at the IACDST Conference. Dr. Sabourin holds a PhD from McGill University under Henry Mintzberg. 


Gokhan Turgut

Gokhan Turgut

Dr. Gokhan Turgut is a researcher, lecturer, and management consultant. He holds a PhD in Strategic Management from HEC Montréal and was a visiting researcher at Texas A&M University and Louisiana State University. 

His research focuses on corporate governance (boards and top management teams), business ethics, and social responsibility. He has published in Journal of Business Ethics (FT50). 

Dr. Turgut is currently researching how integrating management consulting perspectives into MBA strategy courses can enhance social responsibility awareness among executives.
